The festival has designed a plan that includes more than 72 measures of sustainability for the care of the fragile environment of La Geria.

Sustainability, the key to the festival

Sustainability and care for the environment are, once again, key points in the Weekend Volcanic Malvasia. For this edition of the festival, they have designed more than 72 measures of sustainability, for which they have counted on the advice of MJC Ambiental. Thus, to reusable hard plastic cups or non-plastic containers for gastronomic proposals, the use of reusable bamboo straws is now joined, and the substitution of tickets for the purchase of drinks and meals by plastic “coins”, that will be reused in other editions.

In terms of mobility, Sonidos Líquidos has a bus service so that attendees can get to the festival from different points of the island, as well as the transfer of artists using hybrid and electric vehicles. As a novelty, to encourage the use of public transport enabled, a contest will be held among users, who can get a pack of merchandising of the festival. The price of the tickets of the bus is 6 euros and will have departures at different times. Places are limited and can now be booked at www.sonidosliquidos.com.

Within the Action Plan for Sustainability of Liquid Sounds 2019, four campaigns are contemplated. In the III Edition Ponle alas a tus colillas (Give wings to your cigarette butts) will have the performance of «Mr. Ciguarro », ashtrays will be distributed free of charge and a work of art will be created with the collected butts. In addition, thanks to these, a donation will be made to the Association «Viento del Noroeste».

The Sonidos Líquidos campaign, which will be a novelty this year, is a hiking route through the landscape of La Geria to make known the geological value of this environment and the figure of Geopark. On the other hand, within Desplastifícate (Dis-plasticize yourself), volunteering is included for the withdrawal of microplastics from Famara beach and the elaboration of an artistic piece in collaboration with the artist Álvaro Guzmán.

Finally, Sonamos Contigo (We sound with you) aims to help associations that want to make Lanzarote a more egalitarian, inclusive, righteous and supportive society. For that reason, from Liquid Sounds several actions have been designed together with PROARTs, Healthy Art Project of the Association of People with Disabilities of Lanzarote (ADISLAN) and the Association for the Defense of the Psychic Patient of Lanzarote “EL CRIBO”.
