The rhythm of tradition

Traditional music from the Canary Islands is the result of numerous cultural, European and American influences that have come to enrich the musical culture over time, without forgetting the ongoing impact of several native rhythms.

Canarian music has, however, come to form its own personality over time, representing the idiosyncrasies of the local people and creating a style much more varied than its origins.

Just like anywhere else in the world, music has also served to form bonds and unite people at different times in life; from the aradas or trillas in the countryside to the ranchos de ánimas during rituals or festivals and isas and malagueñas for dancing.

So if you’ve ever asked yourself how to really dive into the culture of the Canary Islands, simply close your eyes and listen.
